Advanced Study Program

The Advanced Study Program's broad mission is to help the institution prepare for the future. To this end, ASP encourages the development of young scientists in the field of atmospheric science, directs attention to timely scientific areas needing special emphasis, helps organize new science initiatives, supports interactions with universities, and promotes continuing education at NCAR. Activities of the division include hosting postdoctoral and graduate research appointments; sponsoring summer colloquia on topics of emerging importance; hosting scientific visits, seminar series, and special events of interest to the community. ASP also coordinates the Geophysical Turbulence Program in fundamental fluid dynamics and chaos theory.
